parking in a bike lane/x-walk outside rick's cabaret + attempted education + police interaction11/26/2017 Northbound on 3rd Avenue at 3rd Street outside of Rick's Cabaret, Minnesota license 732 WRU was parked in the bike lane. After spending several minutes trying to get the driver to move their vehicle to a legal location, I finally called the cops. The driver moved their car, so I said goodbye to the 911 operator. The driver then pulled their vehicle around into a crosswalk and again refused to move. I called the police again, while the bouncers at Rick's Cabaret commented and the manager of that establishment manhandled my bike. Eventually Minneapolis Police Department vehicle 123 showed up and pulled the perpetrator aside, telling him that when parking in the bike lane in the future they should be quicker about it. I let the officers know how I felt about them advising a driver to break the law.

The Situation at rick'sThe 3rd Avenue and 3rd Street bike lanes were built to protect cyclists. Instead, they serve as a parking lot for the valet service at Rick's Cabaret and the hustle economy cars that drop off patrons. Archives
