We heard back from the office of Council Member Steve Fletcher regarding our recent email sharing our concerns:
"I had sent the video link to Business Licensing staff prior to your email on Friday, and did follow up with them again after that. They have previously issued warnings to Rick’s for their bike lane violations and such, and will be issuing a citation and fine after this incident. We will continue to look into how the City can make sure that Rick’s is operating appropriately and using the street appropriately. Please do follow up if you have any further questions or concerns."

Southbound on 4th Street just north of 3rd Street, three vehicles whose licenses I didn't catch were parked in the bike lane. Then, westbound on 3rd Street, six vehicles whose licenses I didn't catch, as well as Minnesota licenses CHM 981 and 663 WRC, were parked in the bike lane. An employee of Rick's Cabaret moved CHM 981, striking my vehicle in the process. Then I spoke with some other employees of Rick's Cabaret, who were as cheerful and polite as always. Eventually 663 WRC moved out of the bike lane. I rode around the block and 663 WRC was again parked in the bike lane. Eventually they again moved. Then, northbound on 3rd Avenue just north of 3rd Street, Minnesota license 760 LNC was parked in the bike lane; they moved after I tapped their boot. Then, westbound on 3rd Street at 3rd Avenue, Minnesota license Minnesota license CHM 981 was parked in the bike lane. Eventually it moved. In the alleyway, I had a brief conversation with a driver who had previously promised me they would stop parking in the bike lane outside Rick's and who I had recently seen parking in the bike lane again. Finally, the same Rick's employee as before opened the door of unknown state license AU16043 into the bike lane, interfering with traffic in that lane.
Northbound on 3rd Avenue just north of 3rd Street, Minnesota license 758 XLP was parked in the bike lane. I spoke briefly with the driver, who moved.
park in bike lane outside rick's cabaret + illegal obstruction x5 + a request to the community10/29/2018 Southbound on 3rd Avenue just north of 3rd Street, Minnesota license 758 XLP was parked in the bike lane; as I approached the vehicle to apprise the driver of their moral worth, they moved along. I noticed a traffic cone in the bike lane and removed it. I then returned to Rick's Cabaret four more times during the night and repeatedly found the traffic cone had been placed back into the bike lane. I removed it each time. As I finally headed home, I stopped to drop off a homeless care package for a person sleeping on the sidewalk. Please consider also carrying homeless care packages - a great resource for getting them affordably is http://careandjoypackages.com
Northbound on 3rd Avenue at 3rd Street, Minnesota license ASJ 640 was parked in the bike lane outside Rick's Cabaret. I spoke briefly with the driver, who moved their vehicle. I then spoke briefly with the bouncers standing outside Rick's.
parking in the bike lane x4 + parking in the crosswalk x2 + att. education outside rick's cabaret6/8/2018 Northbound on 3rd Avenue at 3rd Street, Minnesota license 758 XLP was parked in the bike lane. I called 911 on the offending vehicle; the driver moved during the call and another vehicle, Midwest Star Taxi #5322, Minnesota license 864 KAA, parked in the bike lane, then also moved during the call. Then, Viking Taxi Cab #5208, Minnesota license beginning 322, parked in the bike lane and crosswalk; I had words with the driver. Then, Continental Taxi Cab #3690, Minnesota license 732 NLN parked in the bike lane and crosswalk; I had words with the driver. As I left the intersection to go back home, I spotted a bike cop and stopped to have a conversation with them about the problem outside Rick's Cabaret and the unethical position of the Rick's management as regards the problem.
parking in the bike lane x3 inc. outside rick's cabaret and by two minneapolis police cars3/28/2018 Northbound on 3rd Avenue just north of 5th Street, two Minneapolis Police Department squad cars, numbers 2201 and 113, were parked in the bike lane. I noticed that up ahead at 3rd Avenue and 3rd Street, a vehicle whose license I didn't catch was parked in the bike lane outside Rick's Cabaret, so I stopped and asked the officer at the wheel of the second offending squad car to intervene, which they did. Legend has if you take a bike ride through the downtown of Minneapolis on a cool spring night, you can still hear me giggling about it to this day.
park in bike lane x2 at rick's cabaret + turn across lane+ fail to yield + succ.,/att. education1/28/2018 Northbound on 3rd Avenue at 3rd street outside of Rick's Cabaret, a pickup truck whose license I won't list because the driver moved immediately upon correction was parked in the bike lane. Then, Minnesota license 325 WHB was parked in the bike lane and I had words with that driver as well. One of the mobile phalluses that "works" at Rick's Cabaret hollered some abuse at me down the street. Then, southbound on 3rd Avenue at 3rd Street, Minnesota license 453 TEE turned right across a traffic lane and failed to yield to a vehicle already in the lane.
park in bike lane x2 + park in xwalk + drive in bike lane outside rick's cabaret + red light runner1/25/2018 Northbound on 3rd Avenue at 3rd Street, Minnesota license 145 XAL ran a red light. Then Minnesota license AHU 678 parked in the bike lane and crosswalk outside of Rick's Cabaret. I stopped to encourage them to leave the bike lane, and one of the walking gonads that works at Rick's engaged the driver in conversation with the aim of delaying their exit from the bike lane. I exchanged some more words with the barely-sentient bundles of testosterone that throw people out of Rick's, then followed AHU 678 across the street to the southbound bike lane, where they were once again parked. They drove up the bike lane to the limit line and stopped again in the bike lane. Finally, as I approached, they made a right turn and went the fuck away. Then, southbound on 3rd Avenue at 5th Street, Minnesota license 700 WHK ran a red light.

The Situation at rick'sThe 3rd Avenue and 3rd Street bike lanes were built to protect cyclists. Instead, they serve as a parking lot for the valet service at Rick's Cabaret and the hustle economy cars that drop off patrons. Archives
